Worm Farming

In week 3 Mrs. Elmore shared with our class the importance of reducing our waste. Did you know that most of the rubbish we through out does not have to end up in the landfill? Mrs. Elmore told us that the food scraps we put into the landfills can create harmful gases which could even create an explosion. Sheesh!!! Now that we know how important it is to be Responsible for the waste we put out we are going to do our best to help the environment. In year 2 we are Responsible for collecting the food scraps and feeding it to the worms in our worm farms. These worm farms help our plants to grow around our school.

Do you have a worm farm or compost bin at your house? Tell us about it.

  1. Hello Room 20. I wanted to add a comment to your worm farming blog, because we are still finding things in the composting buckets that shouldn't be there! I am hoping that you will all remember that worms only like SCRAPS. Help other children by making smart choices and being good role models! Sandwiches and food that you cannot eat and whole apples and bananas MUST go home in your lunchbox, the same as soft plastic and crisp packets. If you are on worm bin duty and not sure, ask me if I am around, or ask a teacher!
Good luck at being really responsible Year Twos!
