Looking After Plants

In our class we have a little garden. Have a look at how well the different plants we planted are growing. Every day someone has to be responsible by making sure that the plants have enough water.

Lets see if they will keep growing.

We have also planted some beans which are seeds. Each table has planted a seed. It will be exciting to see which table's seed will grow into the biggest plant.

Worm Farming

In week 3 Mrs. Elmore shared with our class the importance of reducing our waste. Did you know that most of the rubbish we through out does not have to end up in the landfill? Mrs. Elmore told us that the food scraps we put into the landfills can create harmful gases which could even create an explosion. Sheesh!!! Now that we know how important it is to be Responsible for the waste we put out we are going to do our best to help the environment. In year 2 we are Responsible for collecting the food scraps and feeding it to the worms in our worm farms. These worm farms help our plants to grow around our school.

Do you have a worm farm or compost bin at your house? Tell us about it.

Planting Seeds

This term we are learning about Responsibility. Our school is an enviro school which means we have a responsibility to look after our environment. We decided to plant some seeds with our teacher and are looking after them so they will grow to be beautiful flowers. In one of our discussions, we learnt that plants need certain things to survive. Can you guess what they are?

If you know of anything that will be useful in looking after our flowers can you please let us know. We would love to hear from all you green fingered people.
